Why Create an eBook Through Canva
There are several people out there who want to publish a book, whether it be children’s books, novels, diaries, or any other type of story! With all the technology available today, pursuing this dream is easier than ever.
Today, you have the option of self-publishing your book, which allows more people to get their ideas out there. Sometimes it’s hard to find tools and technology to help with these efforts, so using Canva can be a very simple solution!
In Canva, you can choose from ready-made templates to create your eBook. However, I would say that there are more options available if you have a Canva Pro subscription!
How to Create an eBook on Canva
Before you start designing your eBook, it’s a good idea to reflect on your vision and what you want to create in Canva. There are templates available for ebook covers only and others that have full-page layouts included in the package.
Either way, it’s always fun to explore what’s available in Canva, and with all the customization features, you can always add pages to this ebook cover template!
Follow these steps to learn how to design an eBook in Canva:
Step 1: First, log in to Canva, and on the home screen, in the main search bar, type “eBooks” and then click Enter. You can also choose to open a new canvas using the A4 size model.
Step 2: You will be taken to a page showing all the ready-made templates that you can use to create and edit your ebook. Scroll through the options and select the template you want to use by clicking on it.
You will also be able to see if the template has multiple pages as it will be displayed in the lower-left corner of the thumbnail when you hover over the selection. (For example, it will say 1 in 8 pages.)
Step 3: After clicking on the template you want to edit, your canvas page will open with the selected template in that window. When editing an eBook template, you can decide which pages to keep and which to delete or edit.
Step 4: On the left side of the canvas, you’ll see the page layouts included in your template (as long as you’ve selected one that has multiple pages included). Click on the page you want to use and it will be applied to your canvas.
Step 5: You can add more to your eBook by clicking on the add page button present at the top right of the canvas and repeating the steps mentioned above by selecting the page layout you want to use from your template.
If you want to use all the pages included in the template, select Apply all pages and they will all be added to your project to work on.
Step 6: Now you can create an eBook that includes text, graphics, photos, and more from your uploaded media or from your Canva library! Just as you would by adding any other design element to your project, navigate to the left side of the screen to the main toolbox and click on the Elements tab where you can find these options!
If you want to remove or change any of the elements already in the template, click on the element and delete or edit it!
Keep in mind that any template that has a crown at the bottom is only available for use through a Canva Pro subscription account!
Step 7: Once you are satisfied with your eBook and ready to save and download it, navigate to the Share button and click on it. Here you can select the type of file you want to save as an eBook, then click Download. It will be saved to your device where you can upload it to print or share with others!
To ensure that your ebook is of the best quality when viewed on-device or print, select the PDF print option. This will ensure that your project is saved with a high-resolution DPI of 300, which is optimal for printing
